From SuperheroHype.com:
Disney’s Bob Iger on the Marvel Deal!
September 10, 2009
ComingSoon.net is attending Disney’s D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center and got a chance to talk to Walt Disney Company President and CEO Bob Iger about the recent acquisition of Marvel Entertainment:
Iger stressed the notion that fans can expect Marvel to continue to operate as it has.
“We’re not planning on any ‘Disneyfication’ of Marvel,” said Iger, “…Our intention is to keep Marvel as an entity.”
Iger went on to explain that he has met with a great many Marvel talents and that, like the acquisition of Pixar, Disney’s primary goal is to stay on the sidelines and let the artists do what they do best.
He did admit that he was excited about the chance for some cross-pollination in the future, though nothing is planned as of yet.
Iger reiterated that part of what is so intriguing about Marvel is that the deal is designed to play out in the long run, having characters that “transcend gender and age.” In the short term, Disney just has to wait until some of the Marvel deals already in place with other studios and theme parks “work their course” and, until then, “there isn’t much planning to be done.”
Stay tuned to ComingSoon.net for more updates from the D23 Expo!

HARRY POTTER
& the Half-Blood Prince
Written by: Steve Kloves
Directed by: David Yates
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Gambon, Bonnie Wright, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter
Plot: In the sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft, and in both Wizard and Muggle worlds, Lord Voldemort and his henchmen are increasingly active. With vacancies to fill at Hogwarts, Professor Dumbledor persuades Horace Slughorn, back from retirement to become the potions teacher, while Professor Snape receives long awaited news. Harry Potter, together with Dumbledore, must face treacherous tasks to defeat his evil nemesis.
Harry Potter & The A-Train: I am not a Harry Potter fan. At least, I wasn’t for a long time. I’ve never read the books, and I saw the first Harry Potter film when it first hit dvd, but I didn’t like it then, and I still don’t like it now. I never watched another Harry Potter film since that first one. I had no interest in them. It wasn’t until I saw Star Trek in theatres earlier this year that interest and curiosity grew inside me regarding the Potter series.
As I sat in that theatre, awaiting the beginning of Star Trek, I’m watching a trailer and I’m not quite sure what it’s a trailer of, at first. I saw what looked like ink in water turn into smoke, which then became buildings, and umbrellas, and live actors walking about. The special effects, coupled with the cinematography and the musical score all came together in a big way and captured my imagination. Seconds later, I hear Dumbledore say “Once again, I must ask too much of you Harry.” That’s when I realized it. This was a kick ass trailer to a Harry Potter movie, and I’ve got to watch this one in the theatres.
So over the last few weeks, I’ve played catch-up and watched every Harry Potter film. The third one, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite of the series. Goblet of Fire is pretty forgettable, but the Sorcerer’s Stone is probably the worst of them all. But Chamber of Secrets and Order of the Phoenix were both pretty great films.

Looks like Marvel isn’t stopping at just anime. They’re taking yet a nother cue from DC and is releasing a film based on a specific graphic novel. Like Superman: Doomsday, and JLA: New Frontier, Marvel’s “Planet Hulk” is based on the run on the Incredible Hulk of same name, written by Greg Pak.
